There are few cars that have had as great an impact on sports car history as the Porsche 356 Speedster. The model was originally developed for the American market as a lighter, simpler and sportier version of the 356. With its low windshield design, minimalist equipment level and clean lines, the Speedster is today among the most sought-after classic Porsche models of all.
This 1958 Porsche 356 A Speedster comes with an exciting and well-documented history. The car was originally exported to Nicaragua by Gerhard Wassmann in 1957. The car later came to the United States, where it was owned for a number of years by William Robert Suggs in Houston, Texas. After December 1989, ownership passed to Gerald W. McCormick in Stamford, Texas.
In 2007, the car was purchased by a Danish owner and imported to Viborg, which over the years has been known for housing a remarkable concentration of Porsche 356 models. The car appears, among other things, in a video recorded in Viborg in 2017, documenting the city’s special Porsche 356 environment.
In January 2018, the car was taken over by the current owner, and in April 2026 the engine underwent a complete overhaul at the renowned Porsche 356 specialist workshop Storm Classic by Thomas Jensen. This means that the car has a newly renovated engine and is ready for many years of continued use and enjoyment.
The Porsche 356 A Speedster is today one of the most sought-after open Porsche models on the collector’s market. The combination of the timeless design, the direct driving experience and the limited production has made the model a permanent fixture in the most important Porsche collections worldwide.
The car has EU/Danish papers, including VAT..
